you know it's marathon time in NYC if...

I was in JackRabbit today during my lunch hour, and the salesperson noted that "everyone who has come in here has bought BodyGlide" and I said "you know it's marathon time if that's the case!!"

So, I thought I'd start a little list on here...will add to it as I think of other things (or any of you other NYC bloggers can help out too :) )

You Know It's Marathon Time In NYC If... (credit to author in parentheses)

1. Everyone who walks into Jackrabbit, Urban Athletics, Super Runners Shop, Paragon, etc. to make a purchase buys BodyGlide. (me!)
2. All the Body Glide is sold out. Along with the GU and PowerGel and Amphipods. (BCG)
3. The bleachers are up near 72nd Street in Central Park. (BCG)
4. 50,000 white guys are chasing one black guy through Harlem. (Peter)
5. Liquid is raining off the Verrazano bridge into the bay below - and it's not rain. (Peter)
6. Weather.com issues press release saying due to abnormally high traffic as soon as its Nov. 4 forecast was posted, the site crashed. (Jon)

I always know it's marathon time when...

- You start seeing marathon commercials on NBC/Channel 4. And they remind you of it just when you got the race off your mind.

- You notice trees in Central Park are just starting to turn or lose thir leaves.

- You start to mentally pack your race bag, including that wonderful product you mentioned already. Oh, and you mentally overpack, too.

...but it's the bleachers by Tavern on the Green that do it for me, plus the activity going on there during the days leading up to the marathon. Great, got myself all nervous again...
